If I ever have kids, they’re getting raised outside of the city.
That’s all I’m saying.

A podcast might be coming this summer. Stay tuned.
I also started writing a novel, but we’ll see where that goes. Procrastination… ah!

There’s something a bit disturbing about completely forgetting about a rice shortage and then being reminded about it by a store employee in a matter-of-fact way. Oh, how easy it is to live in a country like this.

WAR KAITLIN YOUNG & ROBBIE LAWLER!
I can’t believe Kimbo is the frontman for MMA’s network debut, while headlining an event with a title fight no less.
11:11 pm: Gary Shaw still creeps me out and annoys me with his antics. Most of the fights have been WEAK. And MMA on network television seems like a bad idea. Congrats to Gina for winning. Good fight from both.
11:50 pm: Gary Shaw and EliteXC = DISGRACE to MMA. 2 very bad stoppages, bad refereeing, and a questionable doctor. Kimbo is an overhyped joke of a fighter who was getting tooled by a low-level fighter and got coddled. He’d get DESTROYED by any quality HW. Quit coddling Gina too and making her the face of women’s MMA. Have you heard of Megumi Fujii? I’m never watching EliteXC again. This is an embarrassing representation of MMA to the world at large. So was the crowd.

EliteXC: PRIMETIME weigh-in results
Gina, stop fighting at a weight you know you can’t make or refuse to make. Be a professional. Either stay on your game show or be a pro fighter. This is inexcusable behavior, whether the fight was still agreed to or not.

Spielberg & Lucas, please have a lesson from J.J. Abrams and the writers on LOST. That is how you leave them stunned, even though many things were far from unpredictable. Or just make the cast of Indy disappear with an island.
“Dude, I’ve been having regular conversations with dead people. Last thing I need is paranoia.”

I will no longer be posting MMA videos of full events, since it becomes a maddening experience and there’s better sites for that. I may switch to my reaction and analysis. Or none at all.
If you care at all about the Indiana Jones trilogy, then DO NOT watch Indy 4. The entire film is weak. Very, very, very weak. An American Crime, on the other hand, could very well drive you to tears.
R.I.P. Sydney Pollack
Must it be that the three strains of mortals I come to know are either a bit deranged, alcoholics/junkies, or now married with children? Bonus tokens for the combo. Dude, we’re too young to be married. Or parents. Yet everyone around me has long been cycling in one of those directions. Disconcerting.
On a similar vein, I must proclaim that I find what most people consider to be part and parcel to festive gaiety to be quite boring and as authentic as The Real World. My wheels best grind through an assault of specificity, whereby we intercept a particular event that stains time with the undeniable uniqueness of the fun we had. Drinks and small talk? How unoriginal and overpriced. Just come over, if you wish to be so insipid.
There is only one thing that has been on my mind since nightfall: a banana split. That itself, however, allows the infiltration of memories of Frankfurt ice cream trucks from the late 80s. That, in turn, brings me to a chocolate cheeked toddler standing guard on a speck of a uniformed balcony overlooking the Cold War’s twilight concrete. That was the nightly ritual for my first 3 years of stayin’ alive.
